Altered Pages "Glitter and Gleam" Challenge Project

The December Challenge at
is
Glitter and Gleam

It hasn't really been announced yet ... in fact,
we haven't even got the winners from November's Rusted Challenge yet.

But I had a little spare time while I was waiting for other
projects to dry, so I got an early start!

I started out with a double fold picture frame album box from 7 Gypsies, and covered it with the
gorgeous Core'dination Glitter Silk Paper from Altered Pages.  To adhere it, I used the terrific Double Stick 1/2" Tape also from Altered Pages. I love it because it has a heavy duty adhesive on
it - and there is no waiting around time for drying! Then I finished blinging out the front with various
findings and stash goodies, like rhinestones, crystal floral sprays, shimmery snowflakes and ribbon.
The poinsietta in the middle of the German Foil Scrap framed niche is cut from a Sizzix die, and adhered with a Wobble spring, so it bounces and makes me smile.

When the double fold doors on the box are opened, there is an accordian-folded album, filled with
lots of Glitter and Gleam! Whenever I think of anything that gleams, the first thing that comes to
mind is Paris ... though I have to admit that MOST things make me think of Paris!

Unfortunately, the glitter and gleam and bling and shimmer don't really show well in these photos -
even though in real life they fairly well glisten with a plethora of rhinestones, jewels, shimmer mists, glitter, glimmer mist and lacquers.
I'm not sure when the challenge will be posted on the blog Altered Pages Challenges, but check it out regularly - and if you haven't seen the Rusted challenge projects yet, go take a look! The prize package for the Altered Pages Challenges winner is always a terrific supply trove!

Glad you could spend a few minutes with me today.

... now, go make something beautiful!

New ALTERED PAGES Challenge

The November ALTERED PAGES BLOG CHALLENGE has been announced!
And look at the terrific prize package that goes to the winner!
...lots and lots of goodies - almost a $50 value!

The theme this month is Rust. It can be any project you like - a card, an ATC, an ornament, a mixed media collage or assemblage - the only limitation is your imagination! Just use rusted colors - or rust!

Rules are simple:
For your project you must use at least one item from Altered Pages (i.e., collage sheet image, ECO art board, tags, papers, etc.) - and don't forget to tell us what it is!
Link up your entry using the InLinkz Tool at the bottom of each challenge post, remembering to link directly to your photo of your entry or your blog post.
Most important: HAVE FUN!

You have until November 30th to link your project photograph.
And the top 3 projects, as voted by the design team, will win the Altered Pages
digital collage of their choice!

This is my offering for this month's challenge ... a rusted Christmas ornament. I used a rusted tin circle, a rusted key, a rusted flan mold, a Tim Holtz bottle brush wreath, some rusted ball chain, and a Tim Holtz chain tassel. I used a bottle cap from Altered Pages, and Altered Pages collage image, cut with the special bottle cap image die cutter (which works especially well with the Genius Die Cutting Magnetic Platform, which holds your die exactly where you want it!), and layered over with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer, with just a touch of the fabulous Terri Sproul Mica Mixers for shimmer and shine!

Now, it's time for you to get your supply goodies in front of you - and go make something beautiful!

That's the Sound of the Men Working on the Chain Gang ...

...wait! No! Not the chain gang. I've been having fun - and working hard - in the art mines.

I'm working on an altered tag album kit for Altered Pages.
I was inspired by Jocelyn, at the Art for the Creative Mind group, who made a sweet album for all the altered tags she'd received in swaps over time.

If you can't tell, there's a pocket in front of each page to put an altered tag - or any other mementos (I think photos would be very nice!).

I, of course, had to take it over the top and embellish it within an inch of its life!

So, today, I have to bind it and embellish the binding (hmmm. More embellishments ... are we noticing a trend here?)

I figured this would be a good place to put another photo of my Altered Pages October "Think Pink" altered tag challenge piece. Wouldn't this album be a good place to store such things?
Thanks for stopping by ... you know I love to hear from you, so please leave a comment just to say Hi!
... and then go make something beautiful!

Okay, I know that was a lot of words. LOL But, really, it's quite simple. Make something using the October theme of "Think Pink" and post a photo or scan of it on the Altered Pages Challenges photo album by October 31. That's it!

If you'd like to tell your friends about the challenge, feel free to copy and paste the Altered Pages Challenges image above and post it on your blog or Facebook timeline!

Oh - it's only fair that I show you my creation. I figured, since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month - and the official color of that is pink - there would be a lot of art pieces honoring that issue. So, I went with a vintage pink look instead. If you click the image, it will get a lot larger and you can see the details.

Thanks for stopping by again! It was so nice to see so many of my friends at last Friday's Altered Pages Blog Hop ... the winners of all the prizes will be announced soon!

Be sure to check out all your favorite and the great new products at Altered Pages!

...and then go make something beautiful!

Join the Pink-A-Licious ALTERED PAGES Blog Hop Today!

Welcome to the Enchanted Revelries' stop on
the Altered Pages Fall and Halloween Pink Blog Hop!
Why Pink?
So we can honor Autumn and Halloween as well as support
research and finding a cure for breast cancer!

My project for the Autumn/Halloween blog hop is
a 4"x4" mixed media collage.
Altered Pages has an amazing array of collage images, as well as gorgeous papers, replicas of vintage German foil scrap, ribbons and ephemera - as well as a large selection of alterable materials and embellishments!

When you leave a comment below, you'll be entered
into a random number generator drawing for this
 little piece of Halloween art!

So here's my little celebration scene for the Pink Halloween Theme! Now, I wish I could say this was all set up in my backyard and could invite you for treats and an official opening of the Halloween season. But, it's not true. I found these photos of this fabulous Halloween buffet online - and can't for the life of me remember where I found them. So, please!, if this was your display, please let me know so I can give you all the credit you deserve for this enticing display!

Does anything say Pink Halloween like pink cupcakes on a tray with
black mourning bunting and bows?
...well, except perhaps for a pink cupcake with black mourning bunting and ribbons and
a super sparkly silver spider!

Be sure to check regularly for the challenges
on the Altered Pages Blog.
Click on the image below to go to the blog and
sign up for updates via email!

Okay, okay. I know. You want to know about today's ALTERED PAGES blog hop prizes!

First, one winner from every blog on the blog hop will win an
ALTERED PAGES collage image collection sheet!

Next, one person from each blog will be entered into a drawing for a pink scissor mouse.
So what the heck is a scissor mouse?
It cuts straight and wavy lines, ideal for
everyday and craft paper cutting.
NO NEED for a mat!  Just like using your computer mouse,
roll it over the paper and it cuts beautifully! For arts, crafts, gift wrapping,
coupon and newspaper article clippings - so many uses!
You're gonna LOVE using it! So will your kids!

So, how do you enter?
Easier than eating a pink frosted cupcake!

Leave a comment here - and on every blog participating on the ALTERED PAGES blog hop.
There will be a name selected from each blog to win a
collage sheet and another name from every blog to be entered
into the pink top hat for a drawing for the scissor mouse prize!

And, a third drawing will name the winner of my Halloween mini-art piece!

Remember, to be eligible for the prizes, you have to visit each blog! And then let us know

Quick and Fun Steampunk ATC Tin!

I needed a quick little housegift, so I decided to make a little steampunk trinket to thank my hosts for inviting us.

I started out using a tin from Altered Pages, which already is filled with ATC (artists' trading cards) blanks. You can get them for a very reasonable price at Altered Pages here.  I always keep a couple sets around - I mean do you ever really know when you need a special tin to keep ATC's - or any little treasures - in? LOL

First, I covered the tin with a piece of the brown and cream French Kiss Glitz paper and used torn pieces of images from the Altered Pages Steampunk Sepia collage sheet - though they have a lot of different collage sheets to choose from! Then I inked the edges and distressed the top with Blotter, Sepia, and Walnut Inks by Paris Trunk. I then used part of a Tim Holtz chipboard gear, painted black and embellished with gold stickles. Usually, I would use more gears and watch parts, etc., but, remember, I was trying to get this done in a hurry! Finally, I inked the bottom black with Stayz-On. Again, usually I would lightly sand the metal, gesso the tin, and then paint. But Stayz-On is a solvent ink which adheres to metal - so that was the quickest way to go - and very little drying time!
Then comes the fun part! Take ten of the ATC's that come in the tin (save the others for future projects!) and decorate them up with stamps, collage images, chains, old jewelry, inks, and any other embellishments you have around. Keeping it in the steampunk theme, I used a lot of Victorian images combined with futuristic type machines. Romantic combined with industrial - such fun and imaginative!

Finally, take a long strip of ribbon, enough to cover the width of five ATC's plus about eight inches on each end. Glue - I like to use a dry adhesive like a UHU glue stick when I'm in a hurry, as there is little to no drying time involved - five sets of two ATC's back-to-back, encasing the ribbon between them.
Voila! Fast and fun gift! If I had more time, I would have painted or inked the inside of the tin, too (avoiding the closure area and not clogging the hinges, so it would still operate smoothly). But this was only 30 minutes start-to-finish, and I admit I had to cut some corners I normally would be loathe to do! Also, if you don't use a lot of 3-D embellishments (as I did), you could make the ATC accordian booklet longer and it would still fit in the tin. Since I used so many deep embellishments, I could only fit in five pairs.
The great thing about an online store like Altered Pages, you can do a complete project only using one resource! Everything used on this little tin (including the tin!) came from Altered Pages. The only extras were ink stamps and some embellishments from my personal stash. How easy is that?!

Thanks for visiting - and next time you need a quick house gift or for-no-special-occasion remembrance, make something fun and fast from your stash of art and craft supplies instead of just grabbing a bouquet of flowers!

Now - go make something beautiful!
